How do you really make money blogging?
I see a ton of blogs everyday. Stats from Technorati show that over 81% of them are abandoned.
If those bloggers where making money blogging, do you think that the blogger would just leave that money on the table and walk away?
Not likely!
So what’s up? What’s the missing link?
They didn’t follow the formula. They didn’t implement the simple formula that I am going to show you below.
Make Money Blogging – 4 Step Formula
1. Research IT! – You have 2 choices here. Firstly, you must decide how you want this blog to make money. Do you want to sell advertising (like text links), or do you want to sell products (like digital ebooks & software from clickbank)?
If you decide to sell advertising, then research markets that have already proven that they want to buy advertising in that market. Look at big adsense earners. Look to see if there are a lot of advertisers advertising on Google Search with Adwords. Go to eZineArticles.com and type in your phrase. Click on an article and see if all the advertising blocks are filled up.
Once you determine that you have a topic that advertisers have proven that they want to pay money for, move on to the next step. Keep in mind that you, on most occasions, won’t be that “niched”. You want to attract the highest amount of advertisers that pay big money.
If you are going to sell products, then you want to be “niched” down. You’ll want to find a market that has a problem, where they are desperately looking for a solution. Check for keyword competition…And pick one.
2. Blog IT! Start blogging. If you are selling advertising space, you’ll want to blog either everyday or every other day. This doesn’t mean that you need to come up with that much content everyday on your own. You can use ezinearticles, do trackbacks, buy plr articles, or pay someone to write the articles for you (there’s tons of starving college students).
If you are selling products, then you will only have to blog once to twice a week depending on how competitive the niche you’re in is. You’ll want to make better use of the next step though in order to get real traffic.
3. Market IT! I would prefer using a self-hosted WordPress blog because of the automated features that you can have plugged in. Although, if you’re a total newbie to creating blogs or using simple html, then you will either have to buy a course that shows you how, or pay someone to do this for you. Also, you can go with a Blogger.com blog or a blog hosted on WordPress.com because they are ’3 clicks to done’ easy. Either way, you’re good.
Besides the market to message match, this is the most important step. If you don’t Market IT, you won’t make any money. “If you build it, they will come”…Bologna! That’s one of the biggest lies ever told!
“That ain’t gonna happen.” You have to market your blog if you want to make money blogging. Here are the 5 quickest and effective ways of marketing your blog…
- Comment Marketing
- Press Release
- Blog roll link exchange
- Search engine optimization
- Tag and Ping
4. Repeat IT! It’s a numbers game. Here’s the dirty secret that most bloggers won’t tell you: Recent research has shown that although blogs on a whole bring in a ton of money, the average blogger couldn’t make enough money to live on.
Why? They think that they are going to hit the big home run with the focus on one blog. That’s all fine and dandy, but I’d rather tell you to focus on hitting singles and doubles than going for the homerun. If your goal is $6,000 a month, then develop a solid plan for that. Let’s say that each blog brings in $500 a month. You only need 12 blogs to reach your $6,000 a month goal.
That may seem like a lot. Once you get started you’ll realize it’s not at all. But look at the alternative. You’re making $72,000 a year (US) from home. You are your own boss. You set your own hours. You don’t have to commute. Wouldn’t you rather work 9-3 from home than to work 9-5 for someone else in the rat race? Start by studying and learning how to make money with Google adsense.
With your own business, you have real opportunity for advancement. Just add more blogs and outsource more. Then, you’ll make more money blogging in less time.
You can do it! This process won’t work itself out on it’s own, you have to go to work on it. Start at step 1 and then move on accordingly. Not sure if you want to sell advertising or products? Just go 50/50 and see what works out for you in the end.
