Here’s one quick formula:
1. Find a real problem that you’ve overcome.
2. Create a short report.
3. Put up a mini site.
4. Drive traffic.
5. Check for sales.
6. Watch your metrics.
7. Keep driving traffic that converts and stop paying for traffic that doesn’t.
That’s the short of it. There are tons of more formulas that I like to use. Search this blog for some, and we also run another site about “how to make money fast from home” & “working from home” and you can find some great info there.
Hope this helps a little and gives you some hope that the dream is possible if you will just consistently work toward it.

I don’t think that a “quick formula” helps IMO.
It’s simplifying things to this level that is causing the “Make Money Online” business models to be seen as a scam industry.
It’s like describing brain surgery as
1) Drill hole
2) Open skull cap
3) Remove problem area
4) Replace skull cap and close
Although that’s what happens, the in’s and out’s of HOW it’s done is a lot more complex – Point 4 in the post above for instance will require a significant amount of investment of both your time (SEO) and money (if you’re going down the PPC route) and simplifying it to “Drive Traffic” is ridiculous.
It’s all too easy for people to say “making money online is simple” But then when people fail at it they say it’s a scam – NO IT’S NOT A SCAM IT’S JUST NOT AS EASY AS YOU WERE TOLD IT WAS.
Manage people’s expectations from the start and they won’t disappointed.
Anyway sorry for the rant, but it bugs me.

@Charlie: Actually you’re right. It is more complex than that… But I didn’t plan on going through the total details in a comment. You’re right I should have just pointed them to a product that would explain everything in more detail, or told them to continue reading the blog so that they can learn more about the detail.
I was trying to accomplish giving them the BIG picture. Then they can go out and learn the details of what I just said after, but at least they would have a place to begin. Because for some people before they read that comment above, they wouldn’t even no where to start.
Thanks for clarifying that it takes more than just a few steps, that it actually takes work, time, and sometimes money…
…But the flip side to that is that many people over complicate the process also. Getting so caught up in the details that they never do anything. Like the SEO part… if you do the right keyword research and get the right links, it’s not complicated to rank well for a term. But it does take some time… not as much as most IMO people would have you to believe, but it takes time. It’s always time or money.
Anyway, I appreciate your rant.

@Charlie: I noticed that you link to a site about getting paid for surveys. How are you finding that market? I have found that there is a lot of time put in and you’re not guaranteed pay for most if not all the surveys that you take. Just curious… Talk to ya soon.

I think that Affiliate Marketing is sweet. I think it’s great because you “mainly” just have to learn how to drive traffic to websites. Instead of having to learn and focus on so many other factors of online business.
