How To Make Money From Home – Lesson #4
Nov/0910
If you’ve been trying to make money from home, but are finding no success, then this article might be the most freeing article you’ve read yet because I will not only tie in the whole system of how to make money with Google Adsense and blogs, but also how to keep it from being a time consuming endeavor.
In this post I want to give you the whole money making plan in a summary and highlight some really important points about business success that could make or break you.
How To Make Money From Home – The Plan
If you want to create a low maintenance online income, then you will want to be able to create little mini sites that bring in traffic and cash on a daily basis with very little work or time from you. You should aim to make $3-$15 a day with each site. You can scale up later if you like.
In order to do this you should utilize blogs and Google Adsense. The process is simply to create a blog that targets one keyword phrase. It should have 5 total post on it. Each post should be a related keyword of the main keyword phrase.
Each post should link back to the homepage of the blog with the keyword that you want to rank for. Each page should only display one post and should have the keywords in the title, header, bolded somewhere in the post, and have keywords in the beginning and end of the post.
Every post should have at least one block of adsense, preferably the 336×280, before the blog content, but after the title. The blog should be plain and ugly so that visitors want to click away, but content should be good. Not like in school, but in a easy to read conversational style.
You should put an Adsense tower in the sidebar. The blog should only have 2 columns and you should have the blog hosted on your on site and should use WordPress for your blog platform.
Be sure to also put the links to the 4 other post in the sidebar of your blog. Now you are ready to make money with your blog once the traffic starts coming in.
To actually make money once your blog is set up, which should take less than 3 hours including adding post, you will need to get traffic to make money. Don’t get it twisted, your first blog may take a little longer, there’s a very small learning curve as with anything, but you’ll be ok.
For your traffic, you should focus on search engine optimization (SEO). This type of traffic is the most highly targeted traffic that you can get, it is automated, and is passive.
Traffic that comes from being ranked high in the search engines is traffic that will come in day in and day out so that you can spend your time living life or creating more sites that will bring in money.
You get ranked in the search engines by doing two things: onpage optimization and offpage optimization.
On page optimization is what I talked about earlier: putting keywords in the right places on your site.
Off page optimization is the process of getting targeted anchor backlinks pointing to your site and individual pages for the keyword phrases that you want to rank for.
Off page optimization accounts for approximately 90%+ or more of your rankings. The more high quality links that you have pointing to your pages that have the keyword phrases that you want to rank for the higher you will rank.
You can start getting those links by submitting unique articles to major article directories like ezinearticles.com, goarticles.com, and articlebase.com. You can also find article submitters that will mass submit your articles for you like Magic Article Submitter.
You can also get links by finding related websites online and exchanging links. One way links count more, so try to give links from one site and get them to anther. This is what we call a 3 way link exchange.
Step #1: Keyword research. You have to find keywords that are “non competitve”, but can deliver enough traffic for you to make some money. You should look for keywords that have at least 3,000 searches a month, yet don’t have more than 15,000 competing websites. You can check for that by doing a search in Yahoo with “YOUR KEYWORD HERE” with quotes around the keyword. Then look at the results.
This step will make or break you. If you pick the wrong keywords it could take forever or never that you get any ranking let alone first page ranking. This is the most critical step. Without traffic you don’t make money.
Step #2: Setting up your blog around your keyword phrase: The next step is to set up your blog with 5 post and doing on page optimization. Be sure to put your main keyword in your domain name and interlink post to the homepage.
Step #3: Getting links: If you don’t get links, don’t expect to get traffic. If you don’t get traffic, don’t expect to make any money. If you don’t rank on the first page of the major search engines you will always have to work or pay for your traffic and you will be not be creating freedom.
Step #4: Monitor & Track: It’s important to monitor and track your your results and success. You should have a stat counter in place, a way to quickly find your rankings for your keyword phrases, and to monitor your CTR and money made per click.
Step #5: Get More Links!
Keep getting links to your blog, and keep getting links to the pages linking to you and you will continue to rank #1.
Rest. Repeat.
How To Create A Successful Non Time Consuming Business
The goal is not to create busy work, but to do exactly what needs to be done to make money and that’s it. This is where we use the 80/20 rule and goals with time deadlines.
The 80/20 rule states that you will get 80% of your results from 20% of your work. The steps I listed above for this business are the 20% of work that will produce 80% of the results. This will allow you to work less and make more while taking time off and enjoying life and pursuing dreams.
Every goal that you set should have a time deadline. Also every goal should should be broken down into mini goals. Those mini goals should be able to be completed in 15-30 minutes. Then everyday you do those mini goals because that will result in completing your end goal.
This keeps you focused and productive. Don’t wasted time. Only do what is listed above and then get offline and enjoy life. Unless you just want to hang out and watch YouTube or Hulu videos.

The suggestion on setting up non time consuming businesses makes sense, since building a blog presence can be time-consuming and demanding and may take up a lot of time.

It can take a lot of time at first, but once you get rolling and put in some strategies for automation and set goals and work productively, then it ain’t so bad, especially to the alternative… working for someone else

Yes, Rocehelle you can. But let me be more clear:
Can you make money posting links: this is a bit misunderstood and not a strategy that I talk about or teach. Posting links means to use PayPerClick marketing with create Google/Yahoo/MSN ads and send traffic to an offer and, then you get paid for either a sale, lead, or whatever. There is huge money there, but takes training and some cash to get started.
Can you make money blogging: Yup! There are two main ways to make money blogging: 1. Make a couple of blog (2-3) in niches that can deliver a lot of traffic and dominate the search engines for your major keyword phrases and the small ones. 2. Create tightly focused little niche blogs where there is very little competition and make $1-$15 a day from each one. By far the second is easier and takes very little maintenance once set up. Both of them take work and time! But the pay off is awesome. The second way above is the way that everyone should go at first.

I see now. The trick is to make a few blogs with adds on them. Blogging on a few blogs can take a bit more time than I had originally expected. However, I am willing to try
Now I have to go and think about things I can write about that people would actually find interesting
Dogs? Kids? Laundry? hmm…..

@CorMOM: Wow there is so much to say in response to your comment. I want to make sure that you do this right.
1. Time: First let me say this: if you choose the right keywords it won’t take time to maintain the blogs. The goal here is to find KEYWORD PHRASES that are non-competitive. So, that you won’t have to maintain them. Once you have your content up (4-7 post) and you get some links pointing at the site, then it will rank #1 for it’s keyword phrase and you will only have to check in on it and do some maintenance every now and again. Every blog is suppose to be set up with the idea that it is VERY low maintenance after it is done. You are trying to create little niche blogs around non-competitive keyword phrases that you can rank for in a week or so after you get a couple of links pointing to it (if you own the domain).
2. Most important factor. Your keyword phrase. If you choose the wrong one (too competitive), then you may never rank and if you do you will have to continue to get links, watch your rankings and competition and “work” on the blog. That’s not what you want.
3. Not just your keyword, but your niche also. Once you find a good niche, then you can continue to find more keyword phrases to build blogs around in that niche. Some times the work at first can seem tedious, but after it’s done, it’s done. You don’t have to come back, but every now and again. Maybe write a new article, or get a new link or two. But that’s it. And that may be weeks or months later. This is a passive business when done this way.
4. Your goal is to make $1-$3 per blog per day at first. Then once you found a couple of winners, you will go back and get them better rankings and turn them into blogs that make $5-$40 bucks a day depending on the blog and the niche. Just in the last couple of weeks I have bought 57 blogs. But you don’t have to, just start with 3-5 or so. Get a Godaddy promo code and only pay $7.49 for them a piece and get some hosting at Hostgator and you can put all of your domains up on one account starting at $7.95 a month.
5. Dogs? Kids? Laundry? Yes, those can be great niches… here’s why: people are passionate about there kids, dogs, and “laundry” so to speak and are looking for more info all the time. In the kids niche you may look for keyword phrase related to potty training, learning to read, pregnancy and what to expect, etc… in the dogs niche: maybe training to not bark, potty training, train your dog to not bite, or beg for food etc… and in the laundry niche… maybe specific types of dryers or washing machines which there are tons. Your content doesn’t have to be great, just good enough. And your blog should be plain with BIG blocks of ads in the top above the content below the title and in the sidebar… Just look at how Google has there search results.
6. Make sure that your keyword phrases have advertisers, or it won’t matter. How to check for competition: just type in your keyword phrase in the Yahoo search bar with quotes around it: “when to start potty training my kid” and then look at the results. Make sure it’s less than 7,000 (preferably 5,000 for you for now).
7. How to get ranked in the search engines. A. Links to your site B. Exact match domain to your keyword phrase (.com, .net, .org) C. Internal links D. Related and relevant content on your pages.
Well that’s enough for right now. Thank for reading the blog. If you want some more info… a complete breakdown of exactly what to do so you don’t waste time and money read the free report that Janet gives out here: Nomads Guide To Making Money Online…
