Is autoblogging a good idea for making money?

by christianlee on July 30, 2011

I hear that back in the earlier days of the Internet (wild wild west) that making money autoblogging was awesome… but with the new Google rules and Bing getting a little tight… how does that effect autoblogging?

Can you still make money autoblogging, and what are some alternatives is not?

Answer:  I don’t recommend autoblogging as we know it, because I am long term value guy and I don’t think that autoblogging povides as much unique original content to a site to stand the test of time.

It’s not that you can’t have duplicate content on your site, on the contrary, but it should be limited.  Unless you have a plan for building a lot of websites, with a lot of content (tens of thousands of pages with autoblog software), and you don’t mind that occasionally you will lose a site or two from Google’s index.

But a new strategy for autoblogging is outsourced blogging that is human edited and human written (human autoblogging).  These sites will last and they provide unique value to a user.

Do people still make money autoblogging, yup… but the rule and not the exception is that it’s more of a short term strategy than a long term.

I say this just so you know what you are getting into.  Another often missing part of autoblogging, is that most people don’t go out and get some links pointing to the site.  If you do this, then your autoblogging efforts will actually have a chance.  Don’t forget to mix and match post (i.e. ebay, articles, YouTube videos).

Autoblogging is not dead so to speak. Yes, it is true that it is much harder to make money via autoblogging; On the other hand it does not mean you can’t make money with it, just that be prepared to lower your expectations on the amount of money you will make from it.
Be more creative with how you approach autoblogging. Instead of just posting duplicate contents extracted from other websites or republishing of syndicated RSS contents, make it a point to include some comments on extracted articles or intermix syndicated contents with some of your articles..
