Most of us are guilty of hanging onto things that we never use, myself included. Take a day and go through all your old stuff and get rid of some of it! One tool that is really helpful for this is Decluttr. You can enter the number on your item’s barcode [into their valuation engine] and they’ll give you an instant offer. Then you simply pack all your items into a box and ship them off for free.

@dasjung Well the creative industry needs to get over it then. Makes them sound like a bunch of cry babies trying to make the world stop revolving. Everything is a scheme to make extra money. Including the work by the most serious, professional web designer. Every type of work has different levels of professionalism, and thank goodness we live in the U.S. where people are free to trade goods and services at the levels they deem appropriate. Free enterprise and liberty are beautiful words. I’m all for standards. I’m a CPA. But I’d never tell someone not to help people with taxes as a little side business. And that’s federal taxes! This is logo design. Logo design! My latest conversation: https://ptmoney.com/taking-time-off-work/
Teaching and tutoring English as a second language is a great way to make money online, not to mention open some doors for you to travel the world if you'd like. While full ESL (English as a Second Language) accreditation is recommended, as long as you’re a native speaker and have the ability to teach, there are people in countries such as Hong Kong or the UAE who are willing to pay upwards of $25/hr for you to tutor them English via Skype. Check out Indeed, Learn4Good and Remote.co for remote english tutoring jobs or sign up on a specialized site like VerbalPlanet or Chegg Tutors.
Blogging is also one of the cheapest ways to make money online, aside from the time and and intellectual input that you have to invest. As you begin to make money from your blogging efforts, you can easily outsource for greater scalability. I also use Bluehost and I like the fact that it seamlessly integrates or interfaces with WordPress. You can set-up a domain or subdomain in minutes and start blogging in seconds. I love it!
6. IZEA – IZEA works in addition to a blog or on its own. You get paid to blog, tweet, take photos and take videos. The pay is mostly based on your following, so if you want to make money with your tweets, you’ll need to grow you Twitter following. Likewise, if you want to make money with blogs, you’ll need substantial blog traffic (more on blogging below).
There are actually gobs more possible ways to make extra money. A little digging online will yield even more ideas -- such as cleaning houses, doing personal shopping for others, house-sitting, teaching yoga, inspecting homes, sharpening knives, and detailing cars. Use these suggestions as a jump-off point to begin looking into generating some easy (or relatively easy) passive income for yourself.
If you can offer a place for someone to park their car, such as in your driveway, you can make some easy money -- as long as it's conveniently located. (You'll also want to make sure that it's legal to rent out parking spaces where you live.) Look into sites such as Pavemint.com and parkeasier.com. You could have customers who pay you a few hundred dollars per month if you're near their workplace or home, or you might charge $10 to $20 or more for a few hours of parking, if you're near a stadium or other place where lots of people need to park.
Companies like Uber and Lyft offer a great opportunity to make some quick cash. You'll need a clean driving record, a fairly new car and the authorization to work wherever it is that you live. If you have all of those things, you can work when it's feasible for you, whether that's in the middle of the day during rush hour, or in the wee hours of the night on a weekend. The choice is yours.
Babysitting isn’t just for teens. Everyone from college students to recent retirees can make money watching other people’s children. Word-of-mouth referrals from friends and family are still a great way to get started, but you can also create a profile on Care.com or Sittercity to expand your reach. Note any specialized skills, such as CPR certifications or experience with special needs children, to make yourself more marketable.
Like creating podcasts, blogging is a way to make money that can be hit-or-miss. You'll need to offer compelling content and to reach a lot of interested readers in order to be successful. If it works out, it can be a very satisfying and even fun way to make money. The money generally comes in via advertising and/or affiliate marketing. For example, if you have a blog about travel, you might collect some advertising income from ads that run on your web pages, and you might also link to travel-related products on your blog -- perhaps even writing about them. You might write about how best to pack lightly for a trip, and then link to some great travel gear you recommend, with the links leading you to get a small percentage of every sale that occurs through the vendor (such as Amazon).
@dasjung It sounds like you paid a lot for your education, as did I. But you got to face it, today’s technology allows the average Joe to accomplish a comparable logo with much less effort than you or I could put into it, and the savings outweighs the extra benefit of our knowledge. We, as designers, have been out done. It is time to go back to school, unfortunately…
People are always looking to have their cars washed and detailed. You could be a mobile car washer and detailer without having a permanent location. Reach out to people you know or make some flyers and put it in your neighbors' mailboxes. If you want to get serious about it, prop up a one-page website or give out business cards. You can make money quickly doing this.
1. Shooting Lessons: I have a friend that makes great extra money offering kids basketball shooting lessons. You can make around 30 bucks an hour (maybe more) if you have the knowledge and skill set to teach. The main obstacle is finding gym time, so consider a rec center that offers cheap memberships. You could also partner with local coaches for help. If you have enough business, you could rent a court.
Sites like Share-A-Sale and Amplifinity provide referral fees. Vendors set the referral fees they're willing to pay and for what services. When the transaction happens, you get paid by the company for introducing a new customer to them. uRefer also allows merchants to set up referral programs for introductions and meetings, in addition to any transactions made.
You could easily do home organizing for people, an industry that has gained a lot of popularity since the debut of Netflix's hit series Tidying Up with Marie Kondo. If you're a tidy and organized person yourself, and you're good at organizing spaces, why not offer your services to people around you? You'd be surprised at how many people, even on your own social media feed, might take you up on doing something like this.
Could you make an extra $200 per month? Sure. How about an extra $1000 per month? How would that change your life? To most, it would make a monumental difference. But what if we were talking thousands more per month or even tens of thousands more? How would that alter the trajectory of your life? Clearly, you can make money on the internet. You just have to decide how much of your time it's worth.
